Player Name: Court

Character Name: Gallagher
Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
Canon Point: Toward the end of patch 2.2, at the point where it's implied he fades away after fulfilling his duty.
Character Age: It's Complicated. While physically he is described as a "middle-aged bachelor" and that's how he presents himself most of the time, in reality he's been around for much, much longer than that, as a fictional concept and creation that was part of the Watchmaker's goal to save Penacony from the Family's Order. The exact timeline is unclear, but it's probably been a good century at least. Again, this isn't information he'd necessarily be upfront about.
Info: Gallagher's lore! There is a lot to the truth of Gallagher which isn't fully covered in his lore page, so if you need more info please let me know.
Personality:
Suitability: Gallagher may be coming in without any sense of purpose or a proper directive to follow, but this might end up being a good thing. He will assume that his creators must have wanted him to come to this place for a reason, and will therefore decide that undertaking Dr. Bei's mission is something Mikhail supported. That alone will make him loyal to the cause.
While he may have only posed as a security officer, he does still have skills, both martial and otherwise. He's a hand-to-hand fighter and can also summon some kind of spirit energy to fight with a Wolverine-like claw. He'll be good in a fight. For better or worse, he also oversaw the security branch of the Family in a more senior position (again, he was just pretending, but he did do some of the work for real). He has some leadership experience, knows how to gather information about a crime, etc. etc.
On top of this, he can mix a mean drink. Whether he'll ever have access to the materials to do so in this post-apocalyptic setting remains to be seen, but if they do get lucky enough to stumble upon something, his drinks are even able to alter people's moods (within the Dreamscape, anyway). This all might be good for morale.
And, for better or worse, his sense of self-preservation won't be all that great. He was already expecting to cease to exist, so this will feel like borrowed time to him. If he realizes that his sacrifice is what is necessary to let the mission continue, he probably won't hesitate.
Any Additional Info: Basically just the question I already ran by you over DMs regarding his nature, but it sounds like we sorted that out. If you want to bug me about any of the specifics for game mechanic reasons, please feel free!

Personality:
🐶 LOYAL - Gallagher is (in a somewhat literal sense) the "loyal hound" of Mikhail, the member of the Nameless who was partly responsible for the creation of Penacony, the Land of Dreams. Gallagher was created in part to be loyal to Mikhail, and even after the Nameless died, Gallagher never turned his focus away from fulfilling his goal of stopping the Order, even if that sometimes required a circuitous route. He was also present to support the current Nameless however he could, with that loyalty in some ways transferring to them.
🐶 TENACIOUS - Tying into that, Gallagher was willing to do whatever it took to fulfill Mikhail's goal. This included insinuating himself as a Bloodhound and supposedly becoming a member of one of the Family branches to get close to those who might have the information he needed about the secrets lurking within the Family. Despite his general laidback attitude, in truth he never lost sight of his ultimate goal, no matter how long it took to accomplish.
🐶 GOOD LISTENER - Whether it is "on the job" as a security officer investigating various crimes or in his less official capacity as a mixologist, crafting drinks for any wayward souls who might want one, Gallagher is good at listening to others, offering a helpful ear or a shoulder to cry on in the process. He's disarming, yet also manages to get through most conversations without revealing much of anything about himself. Or, if he's morose enough to imply anything about his true self, it's easy enough for him to brush it off and move on.
🥂 SLOVENLY - Multiple comments are made about how Gallagher doesn't make much of an effort with his appearance, not bothering to shave or fix his clothes when they're out of place. This seems to be a way of signaling that he is in direct opposition to the concept of "Order" lurking within the Family. This also gives the impression that he is lazy or doesn't take his work seriously enough.
🥂 PURPOSELESS - Gallagher was created for one specific purpose, and at the point in canon that I'm taking him from, that purpose has been fulfilled. He says himself that now that he's been uncovered as a fictional concept he will fade away, and that's precisely what happens. However, he's now going to find himself in an entirely new place outside of the Dreamscape with no guidance from Mikhail and no sense of what he's "supposed" to do. That will mess with his head a little, because what is he now? What is he even for?
🥂 UNKNOWABLE - Gallagher was created by a member of a group called the History Fictionologists. They follow the path of the Aeon (cosmic god) Mythus, that of the Enigmata, which is all about creating false histories and obscuring truth among the universe. While this might not seem like such a great thing, they're not inherently evil or bad people, and have their various reasons for doing it. The point being that Gallagher is himself a fictional concept, though this is something he has kept secret for years. It also means that he obscures most things about himself, revealing very little or outright lying in many cases to mask the truth. There is usually a reason why he's doing this, but many people comment on how they can have multiple conversations with him and come away feeling like they don't know him any better. He will probably once again aim to hide this in-game.
